The Crazy

I don't want to be a downer, so I have put off journaling, but I think I need to think some things through and I do my best thinking while I'm typing, so this is just me typing out loud. Bear with me.

Sometimes, when I am actively dieting, The Crazy makes an appearance. The Crazy does not like counting calories, points, grams, etc (that's one reason I couldn't do WeightWatchers - the points made me seriously obsessive about food, almost eating-disorder-ish), and she starts to get really down on herself when she can't do it "right". I am not satisfied on 1200 calories per day. If I try to go on 1200 cals per day for very long, I get frustrated with myself and then I start "picking" - taking bites of this or that and end up going WAY over 1200 calories, and then I get really down on myself. If however, I just focus on eating better - cutting back on the crap and incorporating more of the veggies and fruits and good stuff - and focus less on how many calories I consumed, my mental state clears up and I don't get so obsessive. I think that I am going to just list the foods I eat into my nutrition journal and not worry about the calories for now. I need to get a big picture, and focusing solely on calories is such small part of it (FOR ME).

I know I also need to start working out again, and adding strength training to my work outs. I'm going to do a 10 day workout challenge starting today and I think I'm going to do another 10 day NO SWEETS challenge again, except that tomorrow and Saturday I will allow myself some sweets - a small amount though - I don't want to go into a sugar coma!). So from today until March 18 - workout every day and no falling back on junk food for snacks. Hopefully these two things together will get my head clear.

Oh, and sleep. I just canNOT function on less than 7 hours. Eight hours is ideal, but 7 is mandatory. I am not a person who can live on 6 or less hours of sleep (like my husband) - I need my sleep!!

I'm going to make this entry public because I would love some feedback on this.  Thanks.  :)
