A lesson learned

Who'se that puffy-eyed person looking at me?  Oh no, it's me!  Waaaaaaah! Can't believe that I'm still suffering from this virus/cold; had a raging earache on Friday and am still stuffy, and it seems that I've also turned into the bad tempered ladybird, too. Or is that just the after-effects from eating poorly? But it's probably also not being able to exercise, too.

I've really had to sleep it off and rest as much as possible, but still having to take care of my mother meant that I made the huge mistake of taking her to a local cafe/diner yesterday for convenience - we eat very differently and although there are a few places that we can both enjoy a meal, I really wasn't up to it.  Knowing that most of the meals are overcooked and reheated from frozen, I chose a burger - the picture looked quite enticing, lots of salad....but what came was something completely different, and not even a single vegetable, either on the burger or the plate!  But I was sooo hungry that I ate it anyway, grumbling all the while.  And then I was furious when my told the waiter it was very nice when he enquired about our meal!  (I had a mouthful at the time!) She found it quite entertaining, looking at the disdain on my face, watching the gloop that was meant to be cheese actually drip out.  It really resembled something left behind by Ghostbusters....yuk!  Am wondering when I turned into such a food snob? I am not joking when I say that McD's would have been ten times better!!!!  But during the afternoon I was feeling hungry again and craving something, and remembered that I'd bought a packet of oaty biscuits (crunchy cookies) especially for my friend, as you do, but I opened them and kept reaching for another and ate about 6.

So, lesson learned, just a simple dinner of raw veg, fresh bread, taramasalata, chickpeas, hummus and olives.  My mother had to watch me crunch away happily, whilst waiting for her pie in the oven and her veggies to be steamed, but peace was restored after we'd both eaten, lol!

Thankfully, today is a new day.
