Journal Entry for Katiekey

February 26th, 5:38 PM
I just had the most interesting experience selling Girl Scout Cookies at our local grocery store this afternoon. I found myself silently cheering for all those who were able to say, "No thank you," because I understand how challenging but necessary that is. So many of us repeat patterns and say "Yes" because we always have, or don't want to hurt someone's feelings (how hard it is to say "no" to third graders? Or, as someone posted in a forum this morning, a friend who brings treats from Starbucks on a regular basis). Remember, every time you say "No" it gets easier -- it really does. And most of the time no one's feeling are hurt; instead, you will often find you inspire another with your willpower and desire to do what's best for your health. So, you all have my permission to turn down the Girl Scouts this year. If you really want to contribute -- give them the money but don't take the cookies! You're worth it. Katie
