    Rewards

Today my husband said to me that I had been doing so well on my program that I deserved a reward. He called a cleaning lady that was recommended to him and had her come today and clean my whole house.

This was the first time I ever had someone else clean my house and it was such a pleasure. She did such a good job, left 2 hours later and I didn't have to lift a finger.

Do you ever reward yourself and what type of rewards mean the most to you?

    Wow!! He's a keeper!!! :)
Tomorrow I am rewarding myself with a massage and a mani/pedi. It's my reward for turning 39!

Oh, sounds great! My boyfriend's idea of a reward is a big pepperoni pizza, unfortunately. Congratulations on the progress and the clean house.

I love rewards; I find them really motivating. My favorite is rewarding myself with new clothes (besides my old skinny wardrobe) if I go down a size. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble figuring out inexpensive non-food rewards. I'd love to hear more ideas.

I had a friend that loved movies, and would reward herself with a new one every time she dropped a certain amount of pounds. For her, it was 10, but if you don't have much to loose, it could be 5?

I like bringing my girl-friends over and indulge in pampering days :) we make our own creams and masks. Sometimes (whenever I can get all of them together) I invite my mates from uni (complementary therapies) as most of them are already therapists now and we exchange massages or different treatments. In the past this would also include a bottle of bubbly and chocolates... but I think I can still replicate it with a nice salmon salad and freshly squeezed juices.

I still will reward myself with a particularly loved treat like chocolate or champagne, but I do it far less often and really take the time to enjoy it when I do. I don't want to create an image in my mind that food is 'off limits'....I want to change the balance of how I reward myself but I am not going forbid myself something I love. However, my fav reward of late has been to go to a day spa and have a good long soak in the natural hot springs they have.....sooooooo relaxing!

Some of my past reward ideas have been: a new book, a new music download, small pieces of jewelry, fun lipgloss, a lunch date with a friend, a good long soak in the bath, one guilt-free hour of doing whatever the heck I want, a new magazine, a nice bottle of lotion. Sometimes a row of gold stars on a calendar is a very motivating reward too. Anything can be a reward, really.

I like your rewards, Jill! I tend to think along the lines of food-related rewards, but all of those you mentioned are great! And many can be visually rewarding-nothing like seeing a ring and it reminding you of your effort to lose!
