    Distractions

    superbrianna posted on: 3/1/10
So, I made myself lunch, but while it was cooking I was really hungry, and I knew there was about 20 minutes before it was done... I started to look through the cupboards for something to munch until then, but I knew I shouldn't! So I distracted myself by coming here to enter my food... and then I got listening to pandora.com, and reading some of everyone's posts, and now lunch is done!
Have you ever done that? Tried to distract yourself from eating? How does it work for you?

Hey, that is funny you should write about that...i have the worst habit as i'm sure i'm not alone of eating my meal, while making my meal, and then eating it again! oh, so easy to do! I am more conscience right now as i am totally in the zone and i like you try to be focused and not let myself get so hungry where i am ravenous and can't wait.
Hot tea is always a good trick for me..i like to have a cup before a meal as it fills me and keeps me from over eating!

I know that not everyone can do this with their schedule, but it furthers my weight loss and also distracts me to drive straight from work to the gym before going home at the end of the day. The late pm munchies are my worst time for eating foods I shouldn't, so that block of time from 5-6 or 6:30 is perfect to focus me on something other than food. Plus, exercise dulls your appetite for a little while after you eat. Often, when I get home from a workout, I can feed and walk my dog, take a shower, and get into comfy clothes before the hungry really sets in.

Yeah Tiffany my appetite is dulled after I eat too! Haha! :) What's funny is that I didn't even catch that until you pointed it out! :)

I drink water while I cook. A lot of water. Sometimes even up to 32 oz. It works for me.

I used to make a sandwich whilst I prepare the main meal, but I try to stay a little bit more focused now and not let myself get too hungry.
